Job Title: Flash Game Developer

Description: The candidate will be responsible for developing games
and other highly interactive Flash-based applications. The candidate
must be able to support software from an existing code base as well
as implement new code as needed. The candidate should have the willingness to learn and migrate code to new technologies as industry trends change as well as a willingness to tackle unfamiliar problems and a desire to learn. The candidate must possess the ability to allocate time and work on multiple smaller projects at once, if necessary. The candidate will work directly with the Lead Programmer, Producer/Project Manager and Artist in very small groups. The candidate must exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to intelligently communicate high level technical information in sometimes relatively simple terms to non technical team members and clients. The candidate should have the desire to contribute innovative and original ideas and participate in the entire game development process including design, implementation and release.

Qualifications
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and at
least 2 years of experience using Flash within the gaming, multimedia
or Internet industry or an equivalent combination of education and practical
work experience.
• Ability to write advanced, well organized object oriented ActionScript
2.0/3.0 code.
• Knowledge of bandwidth restrictions, file size optimization and
performance optimization.
• Experience using external XML and Web Services within Flash a plus
• Strong animation skills is a plus.
• Knowledge of core game development principles including collision
detection, artificial intelligence, player controls, animation, physics,
multi-player, user interface and the ability to implement them into
gameplay features that create an enjoyable user experience.
• Excellent analytical and communications skills, oral and written
• Anticipate, identify and articulate problem areas and develop preventative
solutions
• Motivated and passionate about video, computer, and Internet games
• Experience with Macromedia Director is helpful but not required
• Other helpful skills include familiarity with Windows API, networking
and network protocols, HTML, Style Sheets, JavaScript, 3D graphic principles,
and user interface design.
• Must have a portfolio
