Lightroom 2.5 Bug - PowerPC Macs

FYI - If you run a Mac computer using a PowerPC chip you'll want to hold off on upgrading to Lightroom 2.5 or Camera RAW 5.5. According to Tom Hogarty's Lightroom Journal:

Adobe & Yahoo Partner for PDF Ads

Adobe has partnered with Yahoo to offer contextual ads within PDFs. According to Adobe's Press Room, "The new service allows publishers to generate revenue by including contextual, text-based ads next to Adobe PDF content, with Yahoo! providing access to its extensive network of advertisers to match a broad range of subject matter. For advertisers, Ads for Adobe PDF Powered by Yahoo! extends reach by delivering advertising across a new channel of content, while also providing the ability to track advertising performance, just as they can today with ads placed on Websites."

Read the full press release on Adobe's website, and get started with PDF ads beta program over at Adobe Labs.

Adobe CS3 Mixed with Mac OS X Leopard

For my fellow Adobe enthusiasts currently holding fort on an Apple computer, you may want to give a moments pause before upgrading to the new Mac operating system dubbed "Leopard." According to Adobe's Leopard FAQ, while most CS3 products are supported prior suites, e.g., CS & CS2 may experience glitches which will not be supported.

For those that choose to upgrade to Leopard, take note that Acrobat 8 will need to be updated to version 8.1.2. This release patch is scheduled for January 2008. Adobe's video suite of products, e.g., Premiere, Encore, Soundbooth, will be patched in December 2007. Photoshop Lightroom 1.2 has not been given the green light under Leopard, and no patch dates have been released.

Photoshop Conference Summary – The Extended Version

Alrighty.

I meant to post during the conference, but when NAPP chose Las Vegas as the fall destination, I should have known I wouldn’t be getting any sleep, much less reporting done. For those that couldn’t attend here’s the recap:

Pre-Conference
For the pre-con, I checked out Ben Willmore’s “Advanced Photoshop” session. I enjoy Ben’s teaching style, as he delivers information effectively to all skill levels. Look for some of his tips in upcoming posts.

Day 1 - Photoshop World Vegas

I meant to have a detailed report, plus pictures, but just now realized it's about 1AM (that's 3AM for everyone in Big D). Instead, here's a quick summary of today's events:

  1. Opening Keynote included preview of Photoshop Express, the online browser-based tool for quick edits.
  2. NAPP has grown to 70,000+ members.
  3. NAPP has launched H.E.L.P. (How To Educational Library for Photoshop®), quick video tutorials covering all things Photoshop.
  4. Scott Kelby introduced Kelby Training, education for creative professionals.

More info to come, and I'll be coordinating my Flickr account with Gene to get some pics up from Vegas.

Headin' to Photoshop World Conference

We've only just met, but this being my second entry for DFWAUG, I should let you in on a little secret. Time management is clearly not my strongest asset. (This is why I prefer to bill by the project, not by the hour) *chuckle*

It's early morning and I still haven't gotten all my stuff together for vacation. Later on today, my wife & I should be on a plane headed to Phoenix, AZ. Personal details aside, I hope to give some live reports from the Photoshop World Conference in Vegas next week.

Look Mom, I Have A Blog...

Greetings & Salutations!

Gene & Kevin have been kind enough to invite me to contribute to their slice of blogging goodness. Let me jump right in and say compared to my savvy cohorts, I'm the creative generalist of the group. This means I've a mind to speak on any number of topics, products or newsworthy items, given my caffeine level or overall state of schizophrenia. InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, Dreamweaver, Flash, if it's an Adobe product, I'm bound to have an opinion. Sometimes I might even have something nice to say about Microsoft... heh heh.
